Thursday, May 22, 2025
Convention Center at the Federal University of Acre
Times: 14h30 to 16h00 and 17h00 to 18h00
- General Objective. Co-create investment mechanisms for the economic transition to a model that prioritizes the forest-based vocation of tropical forest regions and aims for low-emission development, exploring partnership opportunities that can be consolidated or developed over the next six months and highlighted at COP30.
- Specific Objectives. The dialogue to be held around the theme of the Technical Session should enable the following: a) Identify the main considerations and guidelines to be adopted, including possible overlaps and connections with other topics; b) Share best practices; c) Identify key stakeholders who should be involved; d) Identify gaps that need to be addressed, and, if possible, propose an action timeline; and e) Explore new partnerships and/or fundable projects that can be launched or developed in the coming months.
- Procedures. The dialogue will begin with introductory presentations providing context on the restoration approach within the decisions of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and national targets. Afterwards, experiences and initiatives currently being implemented in tropical forest regions will be shared, including an initial approach to restoration in mining areas. The theme of resilience will be addressed in a cross-cutting manner. In general, the following issues should be addressed: a) Economic feasibility of restoration and who should finance this activity; b) National and subnational regulatory risks and a favorable regulatory environment; c) Links with other public policies; d) Initiatives and challenges for financing; e) Challenges and opportunities for scaling up successful pilot initiatives; and f) Impacts of ongoing initiatives.
To ensure that the dialogue and co-construction roundtable achieves the expected outcomes, it is planned to share the greatest possible number of perspectives, with each participant’s presentation time limited to 10 minutes. This time allocation will require participants to synthesize their points. Participants may use supporting audiovisual materials.
