Dec 5, 2023

Dubai, United Arab Emirates. December 5, 2023 –

We are thrilled to announce the successful launch of a Call to Action for funds to support the new forest economy. This launch, which took place on December 5, 2023, at the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Dubai, featured key leaders from the Amazon region and Mexico, and marks a pivotal moment in our collective commitment to sustainable development and environmental conservation.

Governors Clecio Luis (Amapa, Brazil), Wilson Lima (Amazonas, Brazil), Marcos Rocha (Rondonia, Brazil), Tiyua Uyunkar Kaniras (Morona Santiago, Ecuador), and Mauricio Vila Dosal (Yucatan, Mexico), along with Francisca Arara (Secretary for Indigenous Peoples for the State of Acre, and a key leader within the GCF Task Force Global Committee for Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities), came together on behalf of the GCF Task Force network to champion this cause, emphasizing the importance of fostering a new paradigm that values the preservation of our standing forests and partnering directly with communities.

The success of this launch sets the stage for building momentum and support for a second launch event on December 8. We invite you to join us in this movement towards a sustainable future!
