Annual Meeting – February 2023

The Government of Yucatán, México, under the leadership of Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal, hosted the 13th Annual Meeting of the Governors’ Climate and Forests Task Force (GCF Task Force) in Mérida, Yucatán, México between February 7-10, 2023. This meeting built on the Manaus Action Plan (MAP), which was launched in Amazonas, Brazil in March 2022, and the technical exchange of experiences that took place in San Martin, Peru in October 2022.

The Yucatán meeting focused on healthy ecosystems, integrated governance and knowledge exchange, and dialogues with Governors, delegates, and partners of the GCF Task Force on Progress and Partnerships to Support MAP Implementation with People, Knowledge, Finance, and Public Policy. This meeting provided an important opportunity for subnational governments, Indigenous Peoples and local community partners, the private sector, partner governments and organizations, and others to convene and push forward on climate, forest, and people action.

This meeting was held in parallel to the Biósphera Summit, a collaborative event where the following topics were discussed: Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities, Governance and Public Policy for Sustainable Development, Integrative Health, the Economy of the Future, Conservation, Knowledge, and Green Technology and Innovation. Biosphera, in conjunction with the GCF Task Force Annual Meeting, brought together governments, companies, universities, research centers and civil society to promote and exchange knowledge and experiences for the regeneration of the planet’s health.
