Remembering Mariano Cenamo

The Governors’ Climate and Forests Task Force family mourns the loss of our friend, colleague, and former GCF Task Force Brazil Coordinator, Mariano Cenamo. Mariano will be remembered for his unwavering forest and climate leadership across the Brazilian Amazon region and beyond. He was an institutional founder, a social entrepreneur, a colleague, an inspiration. Mariano was instrumental in much of the early work of the GCF Task Force, bringing important lessons from Brazil to our members far and wide. He was focused and passionate, whether advocating for conservation and sustainable economic development with government leaders, working with communities and businesses to chart new entrepreneurial initiatives, or finding joy in nature—from surfing to snowboarding. Mariano lived large, touched many, and above all, left the Amazon a better place. Though he left this world much too early, his work will live on through the vision and courage he spread in his time here.

Obrigada para seu espirito e força, Mariano. Saudades já.
